Default Candy Canes to be Replaced by another in Factions?

Thats right, I dont usually beleive rumors or anything short of the horses mouth but this made me question if such a thing happened. All the complaints about balance was a major topic of discussion once they were introduced into the game durong xmas. Im seeing people selling them as much as 1k each fearing that they will be loosing out on all that gold if there is a replacement. At any rate I just wanted to know if anyone has herd anything related to this *rumor*.

I wouldn't be surprised if a DP-killing or at the very least DP-reducing (25%, 50%, etc.) scroll would be made available at some point. The only types of scrolls offered right now are for XP gain. There are so many possibilities here. As long as they kept scrolls out of PvP, they could add scrolls that do pretty much anything. +1 Regen for 5 min, +1 Attribute for a brief time, Poison/Condition/Hex killers, healing scrolls, whatever. Another opportunity for ANet to add creativity to PvE if they wished, and why not? I'm almost surprised that XP scrolls are the only types of scrolls available in PvE. Why haven't ANet expanded on this any?

Not that more scrolls are necessary, but it would be something to screw around with.

You do realize those are basically the same thing, right?

Maybe a scroll that reduced dp by 1% every minute for 10 mins or whatever... imho being able to buy scrolls that remove dp would be grossly overpowered... the whole point of DP is to weed out the inefficient teams.

It sounds like that thing that the catholic church did when it needed money a couple centuries ago. The whole thing where people would give them money, and they would either absolve them of their sins or give some sort of "ticket into heaven", but im not sure. Selling them normally would be undermining the whole idea of dp, as others have said. I think that any more items of this kind are a bad idea in my opinion.

.. that's an indulgence, and I can't help but feel a little amused to have those compared to Guild War's candy canes.

Since I bought some candy canes (15) I have only had to use 2!!! before that I was constantly getting my ass whipped all the way to 60%, especially round ToA.

Is this a coincidence or just sudden improvement in play coz i now know that i can be healed right away???

Ps. Do candy canes heal your whole team??

I am pretty sure that all kinds of scrolls are not added to the game. Atleast not very soon. I remember someone official (propably Gaile) saying something against one use only items. No one really likes having to buy inventory full of potions/scrolls/what ever you want to call them.

The likelyhood in more consumables appearing is not likely. Reason being is that it would make parts of the game even easier than they already are. The developers would be handycapping themselves by giving us purchaseable DP removal.

I think since XMAS there has been a time where i used one of them. i farmed them basically to sell them, and made a nice profit for my time as well. personally (i know ive said it before) they should be removed. there are too many bad players far along in the game due to running/luck/candy canes which otherwise they would have no clue as to how to try to manage with 30 dp or so and have their character severely weaken'd.

I have a few left canes so I only use them for the titan quests. I can see a scroll that removes 1 point for every kill, since you lose DP for every boss you kill, the scroll can make it every kill. To keep it balanced use the same requirements as XP scrolls.

I do agree that there should not be an easy DP remover, if A-Net made a med kit that removes DP, it should either be uber rare and works for all, or slightly rare and works for one, either way it shouldn't be as easy to get as a gargoyle skull. That or remove DP all together.

I farmed a couple at Xmas, the only time I used them was when PVE Tombs was released, I shared with my team.

You lose DP as long as you’re fighting not just by killing bosses but they do lower DP faster. XP scrolls also help remove DP pretty quick, so you gain XP and remove DP doing it.

I farmed and saved more than 500 of them during the holiday promotion.

At the time I thought I would either use them or sell them.

Truth is, I've almost forgotten that they are there and have not used a single one. Which, I guess, is an argument that most players really don't need them. For now at least they're simply filling two slots of 250 each and the few over that amount are carried by a low level character I created. If figured that if any of my characters would use them, it would the the low level one. But there just hasn't been a need for them.

I do see people selling them for about 600 gold each but - and someone might be able to tell me if my impression is wrong - my impression is that there isn't a booming market in candy canes.

no.

that would simply make the DP completely non existant as you could simply buy a stack of scrolls/items and keep the DP at zero the whole time.

if they were expensive only the rich could afford them giving a real game balance upset.

if they were cheap why have even the small DP at all.

special event items only and maybe not ever again as these are used up

no way
